Townsend, Minchin, Hallelujah!

Coming down from Minchin Pass
13/3
Route: Up the Taramakau River to Townsend Creek
Conditions: Fine and sunny
Time: 6 hours
Did some river crossings to start off. Group was pretty quiet. Set up and earlyish camp and did firelighting.

Route:Up Townsend Stream over Minchin Pass to Minchin Stream
Conditions: Overcast, patchy drizzle
Time: 11 hours
Managed the group up the gorge through the more difficult terrain, worked on their nav and plant knowledge. Had a chat with them about taking risks and how to manage the risk, and also working as a team. Taught them how to use the mountain radio at camp.

15/3
Route: Minchin Stream over Casey Saddle to Hallelujah Flat
Conditions: Cloudy, drizzly, clearing as we moved east
Time: 10 Hours
Students ran the day, it was really cool to see how they took on all the feedback we had given them. They had a coordinator, communicated well and we taught them a bit more about plants and weather.

Route: Hallelujah Flat to Andrews Shelter
Conditions: Sunny
Time: 4 hours
Again, students ran the morning, they were very cheery and identified nav points well. Tim went off to run the shuttle and Lana and I went over what we had learnt
