Went on a trip to the Glow Worm Caves and did a Tour there. Our guide was Cane and he was AWESOME, which is interesting as I had not heard good things about their tours. But Cane was very passionate about the caves and had family history there, he also had the most amazing voice and talked like a Kiwi version of David Attenborough. We did a sit down session and identified what made a good tour and looked into what made a good guide and what we should be aiming for.
In the afternoon we went down to the stream at the Ruakuri bush walk. The bush walk is stunning! I've been telling clients to do it for months, but never done it myself, was surprised at how good it is! Did lots of water skills; holding each other underwater, getting a "beat down" and practiced escaping pack and helmet entrapment, unconscious clients, panicked non-swimmers, getting people back in their tube in deep water. Then looked at Hydrology and talked about rapids in different parts of the cave and their characteristics at different flows. Went back to the jumpsite, via the stream, which goes through a cave and down a gorge.
