Year 12
5 boys, 4 girls
Unit standard 467
Cal observing (Volly)
This group was cohesive from the start. Worked well and aware of each others needs. Willing to be pushed and also learn skills rather than just having an experience.
Day 1
Low ropes (proutys landing and trust fall), high ropes (trapeze), navigation, bog of eternal stench.
Day 2
Joined up with Bretts group and went out on the Tongariro for his river day that I had been wanting to see for ages. Great trip. Started with river swimming skills then some tubing on moving water. Walked up stream, found a bank part way off to jump from (about 7m), then tubed some grade 2 rapids.
Day 3
Climbing skills on the indoor wall, then climbing at Meads Wall. Took Prajots collection of shoes which made a huge difference to their climbing. Finished the day with the Meads Wall traverse which the Diploma students set up for us, this worked out well for both partys. This was probably the highlight of the week. Cool to have an activity at heights that they could all do together. Camped at Meads Wall and had a chilled out rock climbing evening.
Day 4
Caving, Okupata and Pukehinau caves.
Day 5
Mangatepopo waterfall jump.
