| Me and Chris clearing |
Group: Me, Chris, Reno and Kieran
Location: Mungapu
We had been told that there had been a bunch of rubbish dumped down Wellington Hole about 20 years ago and that this was damming up the Mangapu, so we went on a mission to clear it out. The HTG had been down an number of years ago and left it partly rigged and bolted it. We did not use their ropes but the bolts made rigging a lot easier.
The streamway was dammed up with a pile of rumble and a few cars. We spent a couple of hours clearing it and the water upstream appeared to lower by a good 80cm while we cleared. Now just waiting for rain to clear the accumulated silt.
Jammed back out.
