Edwards River/track to Edwards Hut

Spent most of the day on navigation, basic map and compass use as well as distances, time and how important a watch is.

Followed the river, over Taruahuna Pass down the west branch of Otehake River to Otehake Hut

tried out different navigation techniques, sling shot, pacing out etc. Learnt some plant names and did river crossings. Was very cold and steady rain by the time we got to our camp site.

Otehake River track to Hot Pools site

Was on a track through the bush, went off track at one stage, very slow going, found track again by navigating what height the track should be at.

Followed Lake Creek track out

Fairly straight forward walk out. Anna K got stung by wasps, so we had a discussion about first aid etc.
