Ski Touring

Me, Kieran, Sam

Gale to severe gale s/w winds in exposed places, cold front began setting in just as we finished. 1000m freezing level.

We skinned along the track to Taranaki Falls, turned right towards Ruapehu and looped back around to the start of the track.

On the down hill run back to the start we took the valley as it looked better instead of the spur looking over the village. I got a bit mixed up and thought that we were heading down a different water course, Sam and I were keen for the adventure. We got saturated following the stream and pushing through all the snow caught in the trees. Sam lost his ski poles. We had a good adventure and built lots of character.

I also made some great sushi for lunch.
