Bush/Mountain
Personal
Group: Me, Kieran
Total Distance: 28km

Location: Waimakariri Valley/Crow Valley
Conditions: Fine, frosts, high cloud developed on the 20th. Frozen scree and patches of snow.

18/5
Started walking at 8pm from the Waimakariri bridge, got to Anticrow hut at 10pm. Lost the track about a km from the hut, knew where we were but couldn't find the track in the dark so nav'ed and battled the little beech trees to the Anticrow River. Got there at 11pm, camped.

19/5
After sleeping through the alarm we got off to a late start to Mt Speight, starting on the Harper/Greenlaw spur at 10am. By 11.30 we were halfway through the bush, realising we were beat we bailed and found the old Greenlaw hut dunny on the way down. We picked up our gear cache and went up the Crow Hut.

20/5
A mellow start to the day, we scrambled on frozen scree up to Avalanche peak ridge via the gully south of the typical route. Decended on Scotts track.
